Notification of Sergii Koziakov in connection with his election as a Chairman of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine

On 9 December 2014 the new composition of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine at its constitutive meeting unanimously elected me as the Chairman.

Earlier, Minister of Justice of Ukraine P. Petrenko appointed me to the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine based on the results of the competition.

Pursuant to my application and decision of the General Meeting of Partners I was dismissed as Managing Partner of the Firm. Mykola Podpalov was elected as the Managing Partner.

Pursuant to Article 92.5 of the Law of Ukraine “On the Judicial Administration and Status of Judges” “While exercising powers of High Qualification Commission of Ukraine, the status and place of employment shall be maintained with the member thereof”.

However, due to the fact that the position of Chairman of the Higher Qualification Commission of Ukraine requires maximum concentration on its work, and for avoiding conflict of interest which may arise, I hereby suspend my practice as attorney-at-law for the time of exercising authorities in the Commission.

I reserve the right to continue teaching at the Institute of International Relations of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv and to be engaged in academic activities.
