On AMCU’s comprehensive investigation of electricity and steam coal markets of Ukraine

On 7th of June, 2016 the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine issued the Report on results of the comprehensive investigation of electricity and steam coal markets of Ukraine.

Following the results the AMCU has made and submitted proposals to the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry, the National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission of Ukraine and also to electricity market members.

During the investigation Sergii Koziakov&Partners acted as a legal advisor of a plenty of energy companies, for which the AMCU came to a conclusion of monopoly position in the market and possible abuse of this position.

Due to direct and active involvement of Sergii Koziakov&Partners’ lawyers, members of the market have managed not only to remove unfounded accusations of market dominance and make a considerable contribution to the development of legislation on economic competition implementation practice, but also to facilitate the inclusion by the AMCU of significant proposals for further reform of electricity energy markets and related markets in Ukraine.
